St. Lucia

Madera tallada y policromada

This representation of Santa Lucia, responds to the usual characteristics of the Romanesque-Gothic sculpture, for its hieratism and schematic solution. It is resolved in a block of wood from which only the hands and the head protrude, which have become the most vulnerable parts (they have been glued at some recent time). The Saint is seated on a throne, and holds in her right hand a plate with her eyes, an attribute of her martyrdom, and in her left hand a book. She wears a tunic and a golden robe, with a headdress and crown. / Extracted from: A.A.V.V.: Instituto Gómez-Moreno (catalog). Granada, 1992, p. 167.
