THEATER MASK

Cartón piedra policromado, ojos de vidrio.

This highly realistic female mask is a departure from the traditional masks used in the Nô theater, which are more conceptual than realistic. Therefore, it may have served as a mask in more popular performances or as a decorative and collector’s item. I.C.F. / Extracted from: Isabel CERVERA FERNÁNDEZ: Fundación Rodríguez-Acosta. Asian Art Collection. Granada, 2002.

Chronology: 20th Century JAPAN
Dimensions: 24.5 x 22 cm
